American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

Advanced Swimmer - must be able to swim multiple lengths of the pool without assistance.

Participants must pass the following swim test in order to take the Lifeguard Training program. The swim test consists of being able to:

  1. Swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both (swimming on the back or side is not permitted). Swim goggles are allowed.
  2. Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs. Swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both.
  3. Swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10lb brick and swim it back to the starting point in one minute and forty seconds.

Requirements

Deadline: All online coursework must be completed by 9:00 AM on the Thursday prior to the start of class.

The online portion consists of 16 modules and takes approximately 6 hours to complete. Each module is about 15–30 minutes, though timing may vary. Please do not wait until the last minute to complete this requirement. For the best experience, we recommend using a computer rather than a phone. Click here for coursework.

Classes take place May 16, 17th and 23rd from 8:00 am - 5:00pm.
