Advanced Swimmer - mastering the 4 competitive strokes and racing techniques

This is a senior-level group whose focus will be mastering the 4 competitive strokes and racing techniques. This group is for swimmers who have “B” times or better and attend team-scheduled meets on a regular basis.

-Swimmers in this group will be perfecting stroke techniques and learning more nuances of race strategies.
-This group is designed to push athletes to a greater volume of aerobic endurance training as well as a continued
commitment to stroke refinement in all four strokes including starts, turns, and finishes.

Requirements

Swim assessment is required for group placements. Please contact the OBX AQUATICS TEAM for more information by emailing Sam Wills at swills@ymcashr.org.

Monthly fee applies. Practices are held on Mondays 5:30am to 7am and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6:15pm to 7:45pm. 

Maintain an 80% attendance rate (4 out of every 5 practices) each month. Minimum age: 12 (or pending coach approval). Must attend a minimum of 3 YMCA meets and 3 USA meets during short course season. Swimmers competing for HS may subtract one USA meet. Must notify the coach if the swimmer will not be at practice.

Ability to Swim:

Swim 500 Free under 8:00

12 x 100 Free on 1:45 interval

2 x 200 IM on 4:00

10 x 50s Kick on 1:10
